New Delhi: The recently concluded North East Festival in Delhi was highlighted once again by outstanding performances, thought provoking debates, and large crowds.

The four-day event, held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi from December 23 to 26, 2022, was organised in the form of a carnival, with several stalls showcasing the region's food and handicrafts, live music and dance performances, and open mic sessions, engaging visitors throughout the day and late evenings, while several discussions on the region's business and economy brought together stakeholders, government officials, tour operators, and development partners.

"The festival was a resounding success," stated Shyamkanu Mahanta, Chief Organiser of North East Festival. We had thousands of guests, which is an incredible turnout. Several entrepreneurs that set up stalls did well. We are grateful for the assistance of all the artists, business people, government officials, stakeholders, Delhi residents, and everyone else who was engaged directly or indirectly. We can hardly wait to reveal the features of the 11th edition."

The KhatiAxomiyaExaaj stall, which has been a part of the Nort East Festival since 2014, earned Rs 2.5 lakhs in four days. "Duck Fry, Pork with Til, and Smoked Pork were some of the best-sellers," stated owner Priyanku Bharadwaj. "People were eager to try KajiNemu (lemon) and Bhoot Jolokia from Assam (king chilli). Momos with hot Bhoot Jolokia chutney and Clear Soup were other popular winter warmers. We are quite pleased with the income earned."

Pooja and Liza of Tea Talks sold more than 250 cups of tea every day. "We actually doubled our investment. "We are really grateful to the festival organisers for this chance," Liza said.

Anamika Deb Deka, Founder, Qjel India, also a first-time exhibitor at NEF, earned favourable feedback for her copper jewellery.

Manas Jyoti Bora's Organic Tea Farming stall during the festival became a focal point for their distinctive tea blends, particularly White Tea. "We sold a large amount of White Tea and received additional requests.

DB's Wardrop's Lakhim Baruah and Biplobee Gogoi also acknowledged their delight at making enormous earnings on pickles and garments. "Overall, we made Rs 2 lakhs, which exceeded our expectations," Biplobee said.

The 10th edition of the North East Festival not only honoured the region's cultures and customs, but also provided a commercial window for innovative and motivated businesses. Organizers, investors, and tourists all praised the grassroots ideas. Entrepreneurs expect that events like the North East Festival will help them connect with potential stakeholders whose support will boost their chances in the future years for the greater benefit.
