Agri & food processing conference in Kohima from April 4

Guwahati: A Business 20 Conference of Opportunities for Multilateral Business Partnerships in Agriculture and Food Processing to be held in Kohima Nagaland on April 4-6.

The first day will have an introductory session and cultural programmes. The conference, organised by the Centre, on April 5 will have an inaugural session, plenary session and ministerial meeting (yet to be confirmed) at the State Banquet Hall in Kohima.

As a part of the conference, a mini Hornbill festival will also be organized in the Kisama Heritage Festival in Nagaland.
The Indo-Bangla Chambers of Commerce and Industries (IBCCI) President Abdul Matlub Ahmad will lead the delegates from Bangladesh.

The third day will be a visit to the war cemetery of Nagaland.

According to the Secretary General of Indo-Bangladesh relations S M Abul Kalam Azad based in Dhaka, such development will surely develop positive relations between India and Bangladesh.

He informed that as many as 11 entrepreneurs from Bangladesh in their delegation itself will take part in the event. Along with that, a number of entrepreneurs from India will also take part in the event.

The President of IBCCI, Guwahati Chapter President Aminur Rashid Choudhury Shamim informed Business Northeast that the buyers will take Bamboo, spices and stones (minerals) from Nagaland.

With the global agriculture market growing by demand and volume, the sector is projected to increase by billions of dollars annually.

Global market demand for crop production, farming activities, packaging, distribution channels, and trade volumes are increasing to meet the needs of the growing population.

As India today is a food-surplus nation so, focus on export-oriented country business in the sector. It is on the course to become the ‘Food basket of the world’.

Further, the abundant natural assets and resources such as topography, rich biodiversity, forest cover and fertile land offer an ideal opportunity for developing India as a global agro-processing hub.
