Amid volatility market trading with gains

Guwahati: The early trade of the day saw the Indian stock market trading higher amid strong volatility, with index heavyweights driving the gain.

At 10 a.m., the 30-share Bombay Stock Exchange was up 150 points at 55,418 and the Nifty was up 39 points at 16,523.

Capital goods and Larsen and Toubro companies saw significant gains in the early trading.

In the meantime, the rupee dropped 10 paisas to 79.88 versus the US dollar in Wednesday's opening session.

The rupee depreciated 10 paise from the previous close to open at the interbank foreign exchange, where it was trading at 79.88 versus the US dollar.

The rupee had reached a settlement rate of 79.78 versus the dollar on Tuesday.
