Home Minister Amit Shah distributed 44,700 appointment letters in Guwahati

Guwahati: Home Minister Amit Shah on a day-long visit to Assam on 25th May attended a slew of programmes.

The union minister in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ceremonially distributed appointment letters to more than 44,700 newly recruited persons of various Assam government departments. This brings the total number of appointments made in the last two years to 86,782, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressing confidence that the remaining recruitments needed to reach the 1-lakh mark will be completed soon. He emphasized that the recruitment process has been transparent, free from nepotism and corruption.

Additionally, Amit Shah virtually laid the foundation stone of the upcoming National Forensic Science University (NFSU) at Changsari. The temporary campus of NFSU will be located at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, while the permanent campus will be established at Malang village in Changsari. The NFSU campus will occupy 50 acres of land and is expected to be completed by 2023, with an estimated cost of Rs 300 crores. The university will offer forensic science education in various departments, including forensic sciences, cyber forensic, drone forensic, digital forensic, narcotics forensic, and forensic justice. It will have capacity for 3,000 students, with facilities for police and security forces training as well as PhD and post-doctoral programs.
