APEDA holds 3-day FPO training programme

Nagaon: The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry recently sponsored a three-day capacity-building training programme for Farmers Production Organisations (FPOs) at the Assam Agricultural University's Regional Research Station in Shillongani.

The training aimed at promoting and forming 10,000 Farmers Production Organisations across the country.
The programme was attended by over 50 farmers from five FPOs namely Sampawati, AP Green Earth, Brahmaputra, Swarneel and Kapili.

It was inaugurated by Dr. Kalyan Kumar Sarma, principal scientist of the Zonal Research Station at Shillongani, and Dr. Pramod Chandra Deka, chief executive officer of the implementing unit, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat.
Several resource persons were present at the programme, including Dr Niranjan Deka, principal scientist and head of KVK Nagaon, Ranjan P Deka, district agriculture officer, Nagaon, Rajendra Perna, DDM of NABARD, Nagaon, Biswajit Chakraborty, deputy registrar, cooperative department, Govt of Assam, and Sanju Adhikary, business development director of APEDA.

The programme was organised by the Cluster Based Business Organisation, an implementing unit of Assam Agricultural University, along with Horticulture Research Station at Kahikuchi.
