Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh focuses on boosting agricultural productivity in state

Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA) of East Siang district branch recently hosted a training seminar on "Energy efficient pumps under agriculture demand side management."

APEDA Project Officer Kape Badak emphasised employing the most recent technology for agricultural purposes, such as energy-efficient star-rated motors, during the programme in order to help farmers conserve resources and energy.

Water pump-dependent agricultural operations need electricity- or fuel-operated generator sets, which puts a tremendous strain on the economy. Therefore, for efficient and cost-effective irrigation management, farmers should employ current technology, such as solar water pumping systems, according to a release from the APEDA.

Under the PM-KUSUM (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan) initiative, the Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA) has already deployed these pumping units in several districts. "It is a photovoltaic technology application that transforms solar energy into the necessary electricity to power the pumping system. Such cutting-edge technology boosts agricultural productivity by guaranteeing a consistent and ongoing supply of water to cultivating areas and reduces costs, according to Badak.

Officials of allied departments and progressive farmers of the district also participated in the programme.
