Guwahati: Assam Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary have asked Dr. AK Abdul Momen, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, for assistance in establishing a PRAN-RFL Group unit in Assam because the firm has a huge client base in the state.

PRAN, recognised for its diverse goods in the food and beverage sectors in Bangladesh, opened its first facility in India in 2015, in Agartala, Tripura.

Pran is sold in 145 countries and continues to thrive in those markets, which include Asian, African, and European areas.

Dr. Momen spoke on the occasion about the parallels in cuisine, clothing, language, and socioeconomic riverine culture between Assam, India, and Bangladesh.

He claimed that the diplomatic relationship between Bangladesh and India has reached a pinnacle, which both prime leaders – Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi – have referred to as the "golden chapter of bilateral relationships."

According to Dr. Momen, Bangladesh has the biggest number of people visiting India as tourists and for medical treatment. He stated that Cox Bazar is being developed as an industrial hub and that Sylhet's international airport is being modernised to facilitate cross-border commerce and business. The Foreign Minister went on to say that the growing confidence between the two neighbours will allow them work together for mutual progress, and he advocated for G2B and B2B in both nations. Dr. Momen promised that Bangladesh is working to increase people-to-people interaction and connection in order to boost commerce and business via canals, trains, and airways.

Momen also discussed a coordinated strategy with the Governor of Assam to enhance the amount of commerce from Assam to Bangladesh and vice versa.

'The expansion project of 500 TPD methanol and 200 TPD formaldehyde plant of Assam Petrochemicals Limited (APL) at a total cost of Rs. 1337 crore is almost complete, and Assam may soon export these chemical products to Bangladesh,' said Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary.

Minister Patowary urged Bangladesh Ministry authorities to provide the required assistance and cooperation for an increase in the amount of commerce from Assam via river transportation in order to cut costs and improve trade.

Industry organisations such as FICCI and ICC, as well as business leaders, emphasised some of the trade difficulties such as port and capital goods limits, land customs stations, joint research projects, and so on.
