Guwahati: The startup fostered at Assam Startup was the first to export NE GI food products to Vietnam by air.

Northeast Farm Sales Promotion (NEFSP), a new company that has exported agricultural products to Vietnam for the first time, aims to open a franchise store in Ho Chi Minh City to market Assam and Northeast food products.

"The objective is to take the Northeast area worldwide via its agricultural history," says NEFSP Founder Bhanu Pratap Singh.

Assam Start-Up in collaboration with IIM Calcutta fostered North East Farm Sales Promotion.

For the first time, an air export from Assam to Vietnam took happened. Assam Orthodox Tea, Large Cardamom, Naga Chilli & Black Rice, and Fruit Bathing Soaps are among the items sold to Vietnam.
The engagement was co-sponsored by the Indian Consulate General in Hochiminh City, Vietnam.

In the near future, the startup intends to sell NorthEast GI food items to Europe, Africa, Singapore, and other locations. It intends to open a Common Facility Center for Packaging in Assam shortly, where farmers would be able to access services such as design, packaging material, filling, and sealing all in one location.

It also intends to open a franchise store in Ho Chi Minh City to market Assam and Northeastern culinary goods.

Dr. Laxmanan, Secretary of Industries, Government of Assam, and H.E Dr. Madan Sethi, Consul General of India in Hochiminh City, Vietnam, were the program's chief guests. On the occasion, Ms. Sunita Rai, Regional Manager, Apeda, and Manoj Das, MD Neramac, Brig R K Singh, MD NEHHDC, and Mr. A D Mishra, Regional Manager, Trifed spoke. The vote of gratitude was offered by Ms. Jahnabi Phookan, Director of JTI Group, and Advisor, NEFSP.

The company presently has 70 food items from the whole Northeast area in the categories of spice/rice/tea/pickles/natural grooming/innovative value-added/GI goods.

Its items are now sold in Guwahati's KONYAKstore, Purbashree Pamohi Guwahati, Ahmedabad's Statue of Unity, and Tribes Guwahati Airport. Its goods are sold under two brands: North East Heritage-GI range and Secrets of Brahmaputra-Gifted God's Region. These are the largest brands, with items from all eight states in the Northeast.
