The decision was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet, which was presided over by Jayanta Malla Baruah, state minister of public health, engineering, skill development, employment, and entrepreneurship.

The cabinet has also approved the Sagar Mala project's closed river circuit, which would link five pilgrimage sites: Kamakhya, Doul Gobinda, Ashwaklanta, Umananda, and Pandu Nath.

"These locations will be connected by a ferry that offers a hop-on hop-off service. The state government and the Center will collaborate on it. According to him, the Center will own 55% of the stock, with the State holding the remaining 45%.
Speaking at a press conference following the meeting, Baruah said that the cabinet also resolved to spend Rs 4,362 crore installing smart power metres in 44 lakh homes. We anticipate that this will result in 5,000 job openings for technicians and 2,000 for research agents, the man stated.
