Guwahati: Bhutan Airlines is likely to start operations between Guwahati and Paro in Bhutan from May 16 that would give a major boost to tourism in the region, said Guwahati Airport officials.

Paro is one of the two international destinations connected from Guwahati while the other is in Singapore.
The existing Druk Air flight flies from Paro to Singapore via Guwahati.

With 32 domestic and two international destinations, Guwahati has emerged as the most important destination in the country.

The Guwahati airport recorded a footfall of nearly 28 lakh passengers last winter (from October last year to March this year), which is a sharp increase from the corresponding figure of 20 lakh from the previous corresponding period.
