Jorhat: A three-day conclave named 'Swa-Niyojan' organized by the district administration in the Jorhat Court Field to promote entrepreneurship development and self-employment generation among youths, began on Thursday.

Speaking at the inaugural function, the Jorhat BJP MLA Hitendra Nath Goswami, who also lit the ceremonial lamp, hoped that the upcoming entrepreneurs will benefit from the conclave that could provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and motivate young minds to take up business ventures and contribute towards becoming self-reliant.

Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman, in his welcome address, said that a series of activities have been lined up for the event, which includes interactive sessions by successful entrepreneurs and resource persons from renowned educational and research institutions.

He said that an interactive session with the youth on career guidance will also be held in the conclave.

BJP MLA Padma Hazarika also addressed the gathering. Later, Hazarika inaugurated two technical sessions in the conclave. Assam Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bidyut Chandan Deka spoke at the inaugural ceremony.

A souvenir titled Swa Niyojan was also released on the occasion. The souvenir contains a trajectory of entrepreneurship in the region highlighting the stories of successful entrepreneurs and sketching a road map for creating avenues for budding businesspeople.

Jorhat Development Commissioner Adhar Bhuyan, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Damodar Barman, were among several officials present on the occasion.
