Guwahati: Citizens who have not yet linked their Aadhaar card to their PAN card will face a double fine if they do not do so within the next two days.

The linking of PAN and Aadhaar cards has become mandatory for all Indian citizens. Although the deadline for connecting both documents was March 31, 2022, the Income Tax Department extended the deadline for another year until March 31, 2023.

However, after March 31, 2022, citizens will be fined Rs. 500 as a late fee for the linkage. The fine will be doubled beginning July 1, 2022, as previously announced by the Income Tax Department. As a result, there are only two days left to complete the linkage with a minimal fine.
