Technology and Digitalization is the new approach to boost tourism in the Northeast region as initiated by the Ministry of Development of North East Region in New Delhi. A two-day virtual conference called “SymphoNE’ was launched by Minister of Development of North East Region (DoNER), G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday for this purpose.

The Conference was held to create a roadmap to display the unexplored beauty of Northeast India and to boost tourism in the region, like ideation, discussions and formulation of the ideas. Suggestions were also considered from policy thinkers, social media influencers and travel and tour operators.

SymphoNE aims to develop a one-stop solution to eliminate all obstacles that are being faced by tourists and tour operators.

Reddy termed Northeast India as a “traveller’s unexplored paradise”- a rare combination of scenic beauty, unique cultures and abundant natural resources. He assured that the Centre is committed to ensuring rapid development of the region. He expressed hope that SymphoNE would serve as a great platform to deliberate and work together to unleash the tourism potential of the region.

Secretary of DoNER, Lok Ranjan said that the conference will be a game-changer for real ideas and opportunities to unleash the tourism potential of the Northeastern region.

Ranjan termed SymphoNE as a great beginning. "The Ministry will work on a mission mode to fulfil all the expectations," he assured.

North Eastern Council(NEC) Secretary K Moses Chalai said that the Centre is working towards the next level of tourism growth in the Northeastern region. He said that tourism has surged in recent years, and with technology and digitisation, tourism in the region will receive a significant boost.

The final session will be held on 27 September in the presence of DONER Minister of State BL Verma.
