Guwahati: A major boost in the railway sector of the Northeast will be seen with the double line establishment. 

Recently the Commissioner of Railways Safety accorded a sanction for the opening of the Jalpaiguri Road-Y leg section and Betgara-Kolaigram section double line falling on the Rajdhani route and also the busiest route of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) connecting Guwahati to the rest of the regions of India.

In both the sections, double lines were commissioned along with the Railway Electrification. This entire work was completed during the pandemic considering the covid safety protocols, stated NFR.

The double side connection of Jalpaiguri Road on the Y-leg section was very important since the section has 970 MT length river Teesta and will provide the alternate route between New Jalpaiguri and New Coochbehar.

The double line connection established was a supercritical work under Northeast Frontier Railway.

Being in the busiest route of NFR, the double line connection has a lot of advantages increasing the line capacity. A three-lane road has been also constructed on National Highway 31-D which is the first on this Railway.

Moreover, it will benefit the people traveling via train since the trains to and from the Northeast will move at a much faster speed now.

And also transportation via these routes will travel faster to the places.
