The first day of workshop focused on ways to strengthen the northeast corridor with adequate multimodal connectivity to economic centres and gateway ports. The theme for the second day was National Logistics Policy.

More than 140 officials and business representatives from Assam, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, attended the session.
According to DPIIT Special Secretary (Logistics) Sumita Dawra, in the spirit of cooperative federalism, these workshops are promoting broader acceptance of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan and National Logistics Policy across states and Union territories.

Dawra said in the spirit of cooperative federalism, these seminars are promoting broader acceptance of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan and National Logistics Policy across states and Union territories.

According to her, these efforts increase energy and foster synergy among various players, resulting in reciprocal learning between states or Union territories and central agencies or departments.

The Assam Logistics and Warehousing Policy, 2022, aims to transform the state into a regional logistics hub by creating cutting-edge infrastructure, promoting sustainability and climate resilience in the area, and encouraging broader inclusive participation in economic activities.

According to Dawra, this strategy will open up job possibilities for about 15,000 individuals in the logistics industry.
While the Mizoram presentation laid out a road map, incorporating local connectivity of various economic zones, formation of regulatory framework, development of integrated logistics information system, among other matters, the Manipur Integrated Logistics Policy, 2022 showcased its plan to enhance Ease of Doing Business by trade facilitation through active stakeholder involvement.

The Tripura policy placed a strong emphasis on the establishment of aggregation hubs as a location for the storage of perishable and non-perishable goods, the development of truck terminals and driver rest areas, and a focus on the priority industries like tea, rubber, agro and allied products, healthcare and education, and skill development.
