G Kamala Vardhana Rao takes charge as new CEO of FSSAI

New Delhi: Rao, an IAS officer, took over as CEO of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on Thursday, according to a statement.

Rao was appointed as the CEO of the FSSAI by an order issued by the Personnel Ministry on December 26.

The FSSAI was established as a statutory organisation by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Rao was previously the Managing Director of the Indian Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (ITDC), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Tourism.

G Kamala Vardhana Rao is a 1990 batch IAS officer from the Kerala cadre. He previously served as Principal Secretary of, the Public Works Department, and Principal Secretary, of Finance and Expenditure, of the Kerala Government.

He has also worked as the Secretary of Kerala Tourism and the Director of Culture for the Government of India.
