In a major push to boost Maharashtra’s creative economy, Godrej Fund Management (GFM) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) with the Government of Maharashtra to develop a cutting-edge film and media campus at Godrej City in Panvel. The collaboration aims to foster the growth of the art, media, and television sectors by establishing a globally benchmarked hub that integrates advanced technology, sustainability, and creative infrastructure.

The upcoming campus, to be anchored by AA Studios, will serve as a dynamic space for artists, filmmakers, musicians, and content creators. Designed by top international consultants, the facility will feature AI-enabled production technologies and state-of-the-art amenities to support end-to-end content development.

As part of the Mou, the state government will assist GFM and its investment arm in securing all requisite approvals, permissions, and fiscal incentives through various departments. The collaboration falls within the framework of Maharashtra's existing policy landscape to encourage private investment in creative industries.

The initiative is expected to deliver wide-ranging economic benefits by creating jobs in film production, technical services, hospitality, and tourism. It is also poised to catalyse ancillary industries, making Panvel a rising centre for creative entrepreneurship and innovation.

The project supports the Government of India’s vision to attract global film productions through its recently launched incentive scheme, encouraging international content creators to invest and produce in India.

The campus fits squarely within the broader ‘Mumbai 3.0’ initiative — a development plan aimed at creating sustainable and inclusive urban spaces. By turning Panvel into a creative hotspot, the project is expected to contribute significantly to the region’s economic and cultural evolution.

“We are excited to collaborate with the Government of Maharashtra on this transformative project,” said Managing Director and CEO of Godrej Fund Management Karan Bolaria, who added, “Our goal is to cultivate a vibrant ecosystem that inspires innovation and creativity, attracts global talent, and empowers local creators, ultimately making Panvel a new cultural and commercial landmark."

Once completed, the facility will not only boost India's position as a global content production powerhouse but also strengthen Maharashtra’s role as a leader in fostering creative and economic development.
