It has been sanctioned in the NFR for HDN and HUN (highly utilised network) routes," he said.

The NFR GM announced that the electrification of the track has been completed up to Guwahati.

"As per policy of the Indian Railways, work for 100 per cent electrification of NFR routes is going on. This policy of 100 per cent electrification will give a boost to the economy of the northeastern states and it will bring NF Railway at par with other electrified zones," Gupta said.

"Electrification is already complete in 766 route kms (RKM) in NFR and works on electrification is going on in another 210 RKM section in NFR, which is likely to be completed by March. Work in the remaining 3,216 RKM is planned to be completed by March 2024," he added.

Gupta also spoke about the freight business development (FBD) portal and the various other initiatives taken for providing optimised logistic services to freight customers.

He inform that 55 terminals have been opened for goods handling during the current fiscal year so far and 27 existing terminals have been upgraded for the handling of both outward and inward goods traffic. "Introduction of the Kisan Rail service has helped farmers to send their produce to different markets. Farmers of the North East can now send fruits, vegetables, and other perishable products to outside markets by using the services of Kisan Rail," Gupta said.

"Fifty percent subsidy is allowed for the transportation of all fruits and vegetables through these trains. Refrigerated parcel vans to carry pineapple and other fruits and vegetables from the North East to other parts of India are also available for booking," he added.
