GST cut rate to be examined; Meghalaya CM Sangma

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma arranges a meeting with an eight members Group of Ministers (GOM) to examine the exemption or reduction of covid vaccination and other healthcare services or materials from goods and service tax (GST).

Concerning the 43rd meeting of the GST Council on 28th May 2021 a GOM was urged to examine the situation and recommends feedback for covid relief emergency services or materials including vaccines.
The examination report submission is due by June 8 considered by the council.

The GOM members constituted not only Conrad Sangma, but the meeting also has Gujarat Deputy CM Nitinbhau Patel, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Goa Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, Kerala Finance Minister KN Balagopal, Odisha FM Niranjaa Pujari, Telangana FM T Harish Rao, and UP FM Suresh Kumar Khanna.

Presently, for the domestic and commercial front, the Covid vaccine attains 5% GST, which will be considered for retaining while oxygen concentrators, oximeters, covid testing kits had 12% of GST, which's said to cut down to 5%, till July 31.

Yet, no cutting down of rates is suggested by the fitment committee for ventilators which is 12%, RT-PCR Kits, and N95 Masks.
