Guwahati hosts 4-day food fest to promote millet

Guwahati: The National Street Food Festival and Eat Right Mela was launched on Saturday, with the goal of encouraging millet consumption as a regular component of the diet of the public at Assam Engineering Institute Field in Chandmari, Guwahati.

The All India Street Vendors Association and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India have jointly planned the event, which will last for 4 days.

The showcase of diverse millets-related cuisines spans over 30 establishments. Moreover, the event was launched by Assam's Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Science and Technology, and Information and Technology, Keshab Mahanta. 

While addressing the event, Mahanta also urged the people to  attend the event and try out the diverse cuisines on display.

He also spoke about how the millet mission has made it possible for the agricultural sector to grow a considerable amount of this crop. The goal will not only help customers achieve their nutritional needs, but it will also increase the revenue of the country's farmers.
