Guwahati: The Assam government has partly commissioned the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in December 2022. The Guwahati Jal Board (GJB) asserted that by December 2024, all water delivery lines would be operational throughout the city.

However, given that the project is only partly completed, many people who choose to obtain water supply connections are largely uninformed of the procedure for applying for the connections.

Ashok Singhal, state Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs and Irrigation, while addressing the media informs that the Guwahati Jal Board in line with Assam Chief Minister's vision of clean water in every home, will begin accepting applications for water supply connections in various areas of Guwahati.

In the current batch, applications will be accepted for connections in Ramsa Hill, Gandhibasti, Nehru Stadium, Islampur, Hazimusafirkhana, Ashram Road, Lachit Nagar, Iskcon Temple, Bora Service & part of Bhangagarh along Rajgarh Main Road from Sainik Bhawan to Big Bazaar.

I urge all citizens residing in the aforementioned areas to submit their applications at the earliest, informs Singhal.
Altogether, 5,024 households will be covered for the first batch.

You can now apply online for the new connections by visiting the Guwahati Jal Board website-
