It is raining pre placement offers at IITs across the country with IIT Guwahati receiving the highest offer to a student of Rs 1.2 crore per annum.

Pouring PPOs at IIT Guwahati:

At IIT-Guwahati, the number of PPOs received till August 19 at 182 had already surpassed last year’s total of 179.

The highest offer is Rs 1.2 crore, and Providence, DevRev, Winzo, John Deere and Salesforce have made PPOs for the first time.

Most of the tech colleges have witnessed increased in PPOs from companies and the acceptance rates are also high.

Students get to work at these PPOs at their end of internship with companies.

Most IITs have improved their PPO acceptance rate too.IIT Guwahati received 179 PPOs highest in last three years.

The hiring trend has been on the rise for technical roles.

IITs of Delhi, Madras , Varanasi, Guwahati, Gandhinagar and Mandi said that they have witness 15-75 per cent increase in PPO numbers compared with the last year , with the highest disclosed salaries offered so far at Rs 91.2 lakh to Rs 1.2 crore.

According to campus placement cells, IT/software, core engineering, finance, analytics and technology sectors are the most bullish ones on PPOs

Despite concerns around overall IT hiring slowing down sources said campus recruitment still remained a preferred choice for companies because of the cost factor, and also because fresh graduates could be trained in in-demand skills facing a supply crunch.

The PPO route is the process where companies make offers based on the performance of candidates who have interned with them. Many organisations prefer this as it helps them gauge students more thoroughly, over longer periods and in real work situations.

For the budding engineers, acceptance of PPOs means a job in hand even before the placement season begins.

The software sector is the most bullish one and with 53-plus offers so far, IIT-Mandi is almost at its last year’s total tally of 56 PPOs. Sprinklr, Microsoft, Amazon, Siemens, Samsung Research Institute-Bangalore, Schrodinger, Walmart, Zomato and Accenture, ET reported.
