254 percent increase in fund allocation for NFR, says Darshana Jardosh

Darshana Jardosh said there is 254 percent increase in fund allocation for NFR.

Minister of State for Railways and Textiles, Darshana Jardosh said that the fund allocation for the railway projects in the northeast is increased by 254 per cent in the last eight years from 2014-2022 compared to the previous years.

Jardosh claimed that the Centre has given topmost priority to the expansion of railway connectivity in the northeastern region.

He added that the decision will help in improving connectivity as well as in assisting the northeastern regionk becoming the logistic hub leading to economic transformation.

Darshana Jardosh had come to Nagaland to review the progress of the Jiribam-Imphal New Railway Project in Imphal.

Northeast Frontier Railway General Manager Anshul Gupta and other senior railway and state government officials were also present in the meeting.

NFR Chief Public Relation officer, Sabyasachi De stressed the importance of keeping the momentum of work at full pace to meet the pre-decided timeline in co-ordination with the state government.

"The entire Railway workforce has been working relentlessly to expedite the completion Jirbam Imphal Railway Project. A devastating landslide had occurred on June 29-30 this year near the railway project in Noney district. The states of the Northeast also face many other challenges," he said.

Jardosh also inspected many construction sites of the 110 km long Jiribam-Imphal projects.

The anticipated cost of the railway line whose anticipated costs is around Rs. 14, 322 crores. In the current financial year Rs. 1,300 crores has been planned to be invested.

The CPRO announced that the railway project is targeted to be completed by 2023. This project will cover all the major districts of Manipur- Jiribam, Tamenglong, Noney, Kangpokpi and Imphal West.

"It will help in ferrying essential commodities faster by the state of Manipur. It will also help the state’s local producers to export their products outside the state quickly," De said.

The construction of the Jiribam-Imphal new Broad-Gauge line project is going on as part of connecting all the state capital of the Northeast through railways.
