Invest India ready to handhold entrepreneurs in Meghalaya

Invest India is working with Meghalaya State Investment Promotion Board (MSIPB) to make the state a thriving investment destination.

Invest India, the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency recently participated in an orientation programme with entrepreneurs at PRIME( Promotion and Incubation of Market Driven Enterprises) Meghalaya hub on availing government schemes.

PRIME is a one-stop shop for all entrepreneurs and startups in Meghalaya.

Meghalaya desk became functional early this year and full time resources got on-boarded with support from Meghalaya State Investment Promotion Board (MSIPB)" Geetima Das Krishna Head of the Northeast Desk Invest India told BusinessNortheast.

She said Invest India will be working with PRIME. "An interaction was held recently which was an information awareness program on various govt schemes that can be availed of by the entrepreneurs. If anyone from Prime hub wants handholding for availing these schemes, we will provide that" she added.

The Meghalaya Desk, with the facilitation by MSIPB, undertook a site-visit of the PRIME (Promotion and Incubation of Market Driven Enterprises) Meghalaya Incubation Hub.

Meghalaya commissioner and secretary Dr. Vijay Kumar in a programme on Increasing Credit Flow" in Shillong had stated that the presence of a robust private sector can assist Meghalaya to become one of the top 10 performing states in the country by 2032.

The team comprising of Mr. Devesh Tripathi, Ms. Sasanbha Lytan and Mr. Rajat had a fruitful meeting with the PRIME Meghalaya team to understand the entrepreneurship landscape of the State, the operations of the enterprises and the funding mechanisms available to them.

PRIME Meghalaya works closely with rural entrepreneurs in Meghalaya to build and scale their enterprises, as well as to set up a conducive environment by mentoring them in the processes of value chain development, machinery and technology deployment, frugal innovation, branding & packaging, pricing & unit economics, market linkages, funding, and business plans.

As one of the outcomes of the engagement, the Meghalaya Desk (and the Northeast Desk at large), participated in the Orientation Programme of the PRIME Sauramandala Rural Entrepreneurship Fellowship (PSREF). Dr. Geetima Das Krishna, Head of the Northeast Desk, delivered the opening remarks and discussed the role of Invest India as the nation’s investment promotion and facilitation agency, and also highlighted the important role of StartUp India.

The desk also coordinated with the sectoral teams housed within Invest India and moderated the awareness session on Central Schemes in the Tourism, Food Processing, and Handloom & Textiles Sector. The Desk also facilitated the participation of Ms. Ritika Khattar from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) to give a detailed presentation on the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme.

The programme was held in hybrid mode and witnessed the participation of PRIME Officials, fellows, associates, and entrepreneurs.
