The Industries and Trade Fair Association of Assam has geared up to host the 27th edition of the International Guwahati Trade Fair after a break of two years following the lockdown. The fair is scheduled from September 30 to October 17 at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre. The fair is organised with the support of the National Small Scale Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC).

Rajesh Das, Vice-president of ITFAA said that as a mark of respect for the Covid warriors, doctors and health workers will be offered a free entry to the fair upon producing their identity cards.

Meanwhile, visitors will be able to visit the fair from 2 pm on weekdays, and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays visiting hours will be from 1 pm to 9 pm.

The International Guwahati Trade Fair apart from having huge participation from Thailand, Dubai, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will have a huge pavillion dedicated to products from Iran like Zafrani dates, jewellery, handicraft and honey. Jewellery from European countries will also be made available for the first time in Guwahati.

About 60 participants from across the country will display an array of never seen products under NSIC.

"It will be a great opportunity for the people of Guwahati to witness the magical handiwork of artisans and self-help groups from different sections of society," Das said.

"For the first time in North East and possibly in the entry country, a Vloggers Contest will be held during the fair period. Vloggers with a Youtube channel of their own will be required to post a Vlog based on the ongoing Guwahati Trade Fair. A committee of experts will select the first and second winners. They will win cash prizes of Rs 20,000 and 10,000 respectively," he added.

Guwahati Trade Fair will also offer Afghani food to food lovers this year.

"Visitors to the fair will also get an opportunity to witness and buy products from different companies across the country. Products ranging from footwear, home appliances, toys, furniture, crockeries, Kashmiri garments and decoratives, ladies' garments, jewellery, decorative items, automobiles and many other attractive products are to be made available," said Das.

The State Bank of India (SBI) will also be installing stalls for visitors including ATM facilities.
