Guwahati: Reliance Jio adds another first to its list as it launches 4G voice and data services in Spangmik hamlet near Pangong lake in Ladakh, becoming the first operator to deliver 4G mobile connectivity in and around the area.

Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Member of Parliament, inaugurated the Jio Mobile Tower in the Spangmik hamlet near Pangong Lake. Pangong Lake is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in Ladakh, drawing thousands of visitors each year from India and other areas of the world.

Jamyang Tsering Namgyal stated that Jio has satisfied a long-standing need of the people with this launch. This launch would help the region's economy while also offering a seamless connection to visitors and the military in the area.

Jio has been steadily extending and improving its network in the Ladakh area in order to achieve its aim of digitally connecting everyone and empowering society in a variety of ways.

Overcoming the difficulty of very tough terrain and bad weather conditions, Team Jio continues its efforts to reach the most distant sections of the Union territory in order to keep people connected in locations that would otherwise be cut off from the rest of the country for months.

Jio launched its services in Kanji, Urbis, and Hanupatta villages in Khalsi Block, as well as Chunglungkha village in Diskit Block, in May. Jio already has 4G footprints throughout the region, including Kargil, Zanskar, and Demchok. Jio also offers JioFiber broadband services in Leh.

Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Chairman/CEC, Executive Councillor, Tashi Yakzee, Stanzin Chosphel, Sh. Gh. Mehdi, and Councilors of LAHDC Leh were also present at the event.
