Manipur identifying popular sites to boost tourism

Guwahati: Manipur has identified 57 tourist sites to boost the tourism sector in the state.

The tourism minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, who is also the chief minister, said this during the House on Thursday during the ongoing third session of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly while clarifying the policy cut motion raised by opposition Members of Legislative Assemblies while clarifying the policy cut motion raised by opposition MLAs K Meghachandra Singh and Thokchom Lokeshwar Singh in the demand of Tourism.

Singh informed that Manipur is on the top among the northeastern states in tourism sector and stands on the 21st position among the entire states of India. Tamil Nadu stands in the top position in the country according to a national media report.

He further informed that the present government has increased the number of sites to hold Sangai festival to 15 spots in the state. The government will further set up tourist spots at Jessami where the first battle with British was fought on India soil.
