Guwahati: Manipur is turning to solar power to offer continuous power to its citizens and government buildings. At the Chief Minister's Secretariat today, Manipur Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh virtually launched the Solar Power System for Government Health Facilities in three districts:

Chandel, Churachandpur, and Tamenglong. In conjunction with the Directorate of Health Services, the SELCO Foundation solarised 68 Health Centres across the three districts and supplied them with energy-efficient equipment such as a Radiant Warmer, Suction Apparatus, Spotlight, Solar Direct Drive Vaccine Refrigerator, and luminaries.

The initiative is one of the State Government's 100 Action Points for 100 Days. Interacting with concerned authorities from the three districts as well as SELCO Foundation representatives, the chief minister praised the SELCO Foundation and government officials for successfully completing the project. He went on to say that with the installation of the Solar Power System, 68 Health Centres in three districts will have a 24-hour power supply.

The Chief Minister stated that the protracted rainy season and its repercussions, including landslides and floods, have caused power outages in distant regions of the state. He went on to say that the government knows the issue that Health Centres in distant locations confront when their services are disrupted.

As a result, the government-backed the SELCO Foundation's plan to ensure an uninterrupted power supply using solar power systems, he noted. He emphasized the significance of adequate solar power project maintenance. He proposed that a person be appointed to each of the 68 Health Centres to oversee the solar panel and other components.

If training is necessary, it should be offered in conjunction with the SELCO Foundation. Shri N. Biren also suggested the position of CEO of the SELCO Foundation. Harish Hande, who virtually attended the event, promised that the initiative will reach all of the state's rural districts and that the government would provide all available help. The Chief Medical Officers of the three districts thanked the Chief Minister for initiating the effort to give uninterrupted power supply to Health Centres, adding that the Health Centres can now deliver better health care services to the people.
