Manipur Sangai Festival kicks off with zeal

Guwahati: After a two-year hiatus, the Manipur Sangai Festival with its cultural flair is returned with an opportunity for all to explore the rich culture of NorthEast. 

The "Manipur Sangai Festival 2022" was launched on Monday at the Sangai Ethnic Park in Moirang Khunou in the Bishnupur district by Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy. The northeastern state's 10-day celebration will continue until November 30 and take place in 13 locations over six districts.

The Union minister spoke at the occasion and was appreciative of the opportunity to take part in the festival. I'm fortunate to meet groups from 33 various villages in one location, each of which has come to participate in the event, the man remarked. G Kishan Reddy extended an invitation to citizens of other states to travel to the state and experience the splendour of the festival. He also expressed his gratitude for the festival's organisation to the chief minister, his cabinet members, MLAs, and other authorities. The minister of tourism also promised to inform Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the holiday is being observed in a magnificent way.

The minister for the Union praised Manipur's natural beauty. He added that efforts were being made by the Union Government to develop the Northeast.

According to Reddy, India will host the next G20 Summit, and other significant activities would be organised nationwide to mark the occasion. He continued by saying that other events will also take place in Manipur.

The celebration is referred to as the "Festival of Oneness" to promote a feeling of community and pride in land ownership among the people, according to Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. Earlier that day, Biren Singh also innaugurated the Sangai Ethnic Park, which has replicas of traditional homes from 34 different Manipur tribes.
