Guwahati: The Indian equity markets began on a poor note on Thursday with the lack of any big trigger amid mixed global indications, but were trading with a small gain in the early session.

At 10 a.m., the 30-share Bombay Stock Exchange was trading at 55528.21, up 120 points, while the Nifty was trading at 16562, up 41 points.

Globally, US equities finished higher on Wednesday on solid earnings signals, with a guarded eye on inflation and further Fed rate rises, while Asian markets were trading divided in morning trade.
The Indian rupee began slightly lower at 80.01 per dollar, down from 79.98 the previous day.
