Guwahati: The Indian equities markets were trading with a small gain in the early hours of the week's last trading session.

The 30-share Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex was trading at 55,802.38 at 10 a.m., up 120.43 points, while the Nifty was trading at 16,645.85, up 40.60 points.

Because Friday is the last trading day of the week, there will be a lot of profit-taking by investors, which will likely result in more volatility in the trading session.

UPL, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Nestle India, Hindalco Industries, and M&M were among the big gainers on the Nifty in the first hour of trading, while Infosys, ONGC, L&T, and Apollo Hospitals were among the losers.

According to market analysts, the positive for the market right now is the FII action of persistent purchasing, which has also assisted the rupee in regaining some lost ground versus the dollar.

On Friday, the Indian rupee began modestly higher at 79.88 per dollar, up from the previous finish of 79.95.
