Guwahati: Meghalaya was awarded the 'Best Performer' in the Start-up Ranking 2021 of the United States. The Meghalaya government is on a quest to develop a dynamic and collaborative ecosystem for entrepreneurs through PRIME- Promotion and Incubation of Market Driven Enterprises.

The state intends to make entrepreneurship a favoured career path for young people.

Shillong's PRIME Hub has 9,500 square feet in size. It has an auditorium and learning centre, as well as a communal co-working area for entrepreneurs, reception, conference rooms, and a restaurant. Every year, a cohort of 50 entrepreneurs is chosen for a 12-month incubation programme. They receive specialised supervision, capacity building, access to funds and markets, marketing training, and other legislative assistance.

PRIME also provides free co-working space to the most promising entrepreneurs in the Startup Hubs in Shillong and Tura. PRIME has given Rs. 5 crores in cash over the previous three years, and over 150 entrepreneurs have been connected to mentors.
