Aizawl: Chief Minister Lalduhoma has highlighted a new proposed health scheme that offers enhanced benefits compared to the current Mizoram State Healthcare Scheme initiated by the previous Zoramthanga-led Mizo National Fund (MNF) government in 2019.

According to Lalduhoma, the new bill, that is being chalked out, is much better than the previous bill which is being abolished.

Earlier this week, the government released Rs 50 crore to clear all pending healthcare bills as more than Rs 45 crore was pending release to the beneficiaries. The last government was criticized over its inability to clear the bills.

The healthcare bill was one of the major political issues before the assembly polls in 2023.

According to official reports, the Mizoram State Health Care Scheme successfully enrolled 26,569 citizens during the fiscal year 2023-24.

The Zoramthanga-led government said it allocated about 150 crores under the Socio-Economic Development Policy (SEDP) for the implementation of the healthcare scheme during five financial years from 2019.
