Mukesh Ambani Commits Rs 75,000 Crore to North-East India, Unveils Six-Point Vision at Investors Summit

In a landmark announcement at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025, Reliance Industries Limited Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh D. Ambani unveiled a transformative vision for the North-East, pledging over Rs 75,000 crore in investments over the next five years—more than double Reliance’s investments in the region to date.

In February, during Advantage Assam 2.0 Ambani had announced Rs 50000 crore investment which has now been upscaled.

Addressing a distinguished gathering including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and key policymakers from all eight North-Eastern states, Ambani lauded the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, calling it a testament to Modi’s leadership and the valour of India’s armed forces.

Highlighting the North-East as India’s “Ashta Lakshmi”—a reference to the eight forms of the Goddess of Prosperity—Ambani declared, “The North-East is not just rising, it is roaring.”

The Six Commitments of Reliance to the North-East:

Massive Investment Drive:
Ambani announced that Reliance will invest Rs 75,000 crore in the North-East by 2030. This will generate 2.5 million direct and indirect jobs and aims to impact nearly 45 million residents across the region.

Digital Empowerment via Jio:
With 5 million 5G subscribers already connected, Jio aims to double its user base this year and bring AI-powered solutions to schools, hospitals, businesses, and homes—enhancing connectivity and learning opportunities.

Retail Boost for Farmers and Artisans:
Reliance Retail will significantly increase procurement of staples, fruits, and vegetables to support local farmers. The company also plans to set up FMCG manufacturing units and back the region’s artisan economy.

Green Energy and Biofuel Push:
Ambani committed to building 350 integrated Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants in the region, converting wasteland into wealth-land, in line with Modi’s vision of turning waste into wealth.

World-Class Cancer and Genomic Healthcare:
Reliance Foundation has launched a 150-bed cancer hospital in Manipur and is collaborating with Mizoram University on genomic cancer care. A state-of-the-art Molecular Diagnostics and Research Lab in Guwahati will help turn the region into a healthcare and genomics hub.

Olympic Sports Infrastructure:
To harness the region’s rich athletic potential, the Foundation will establish Olympic Training Centres across all eight states to groom future medal-winning athletes.

Ambani concluded with a powerful tribute to Prime Minister Modi stated, “You have brought the North-East from the periphery to the centre of India’s developmental map. Under your guidance, we in industry will work with the Chief Ministers to make the North-East an inspiring global model of inclusive progress.”
The announcement signals a major turning point in the economic integration of the North-East, positioning the region as a future hub for technology, green energy, retail, healthcare, and sports development.
