Nagaland working to boost tourism.

Chief Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Jan e Alam, asked the Tourism Department to be “industry friendly”. He advised the department to get all the guides registered, to calculate the total industry output and see to the feedback given by tourists.

The CS also asked the officers and staff of the tourist department to come up with a policy to encourage entrepreneurs for vehicle tourism with better luxury vehicles. He emphasised to provide more publicity to boost tourism and see what the people want.

In the meeting held at Kohima, the Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Akumla Chuba informed that the department has been working on promoting sports and in developing sports infrastructural facilities, conducting tournaments, coaching camps, and talent search. He informed the CS that Nagaland is participation in regional, national, and international levels and nurturing young talents in the field of sports.

Further, she said that the department is playing a pioneering role in tapping the energy of youth for development of the state through promotion of music and arts (TaFMA), adventure programme, outdoor learning personality development, youth festival, etc.

Chuba also pointed out that the department has been functioning with inadequate manpower and was struggling with budget constraints.

The CS stressed the need for finding new sports players in the state. Further, he added that the department should have connections with the youth to carry out projects and thus, maintain a system to facilitate them after completion of their course for job maintenance.

The department is asked to maintain transparency, equality and remove nepotism among sports players.
