This scheme was launched by the Government of India for the overall promotion and development of scientific beekeeping and the production of quality honey and other beehive products. This scheme will be implemented through different agencies with 100% funding. They mentioned that various infrastructural development activities will be supported under this scheme. They are as follows –
The Directorate of Horticulture & Food Processing, Assam has taken up the initiative to generate awareness about the provisions under this scheme through newspaper advertisements and public meetings. District Level Committee have been notified having Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district as chairman for proper planning, implementation and monitoring of the activities under this scheme
Project proposals for these activities have been invited through newspaper advertisements from interested entrepreneurs and beekeepers. Further, a database is to be created of the existing commercial beekeepers, honey traders and other entrepreneurs involved with beekeeping activities for the state of Assam. Registration of these stakeholders are going on in ‘MADHUKRANTI’ portal and District Nodal Officers for NBHM have been notified to accelerate the process.
