National Highway works in Nagaland is in progressive rate

Nagaland: National Highway (NH) works in Nagaland, including the four-laning of the NH-29 from Dimapur-Kohima are in progress, informed the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) during the Lok Sabha on July 22, 2021.

Most of the projects are progressing timely according to an annexure. However, four laning of NH-29 Dimapur-Kohima Road has been designated re-tendered award for balance work and its progress rate is 71.69%, informs MoRTH Minister Nitin Jairam Gadkari.

A total of 45 NH Projects are listed in the annexure for a total length of 899.5 km and Sanctioned Cost/TPC of Rs 11762.94 crore.

Most of the projects such as 2-lane constructions, Merangkong-Tamlu-Mon Road, and Peren-Dimapur are delayed due to covid restrictions.

According to MoRTH Minister Gadkari's reply, the development and maintenance is a continuous process.
The Maintenance and Repair (M&R) of stretches of NHS, where either development work is operated, maintenance and transfer (OMT) Concessions/operations and Maintenance (O&M) contracts have been awarded and done by the Concessioners/Contractors till the Defect Liability Period (DLP) /the Concession Period. M&R of balance stretches of NHs have been carried out annually as per available budget outlay, inter-se priority, and traffic density to keep such NHs in traffic-worthy conditions.

Moreover, Ministry has taken policy decisions to implement M&R of NHs entrusted with State Governments/UTs through the short and medium-term.
