NEEPCO planning more projects in Meghalaya: Official

Shillong: Gurdeep Singh, Chief Managing Director (CMD) of the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) announced more pump storage projects and hydel projects in Meghalaya during a ceremony on April 2, 2024.

Singh, expressing optimism, conveyed his confidence in NEEPCO's ability to swiftly execute its projects through "proper planning and efficient management" at the 49th Foundation Day celebration of NEEPCO at its corporate office in Shillong. Despite the challenges in the region, Singh expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved by NEEPCO. He further stated the corporation is committed to clean and green energy. 

B Maharana, Director of Finance at NEEPCO, echoed Singh's sentiments during his address and highlighted the corporation's achievements in the past year under Singh's guidance. The 49th Foundation Day celebrations also saw the recognition of outstanding performance by various power plants under NEEPCO's purview.

The prestigious first prize for Best Performing Plants was awarded to the Panyor Lower Hydro Power Station in Arunachal Pradesh. Tuirial Hydro Power Station in Mizoram and Pare Hydro Power Station in Arunachal Pradesh clinched the second and third prizes, respectively. Additionally, the Agartala gas-based power station in Tripura and the Assam gas-based power station were honored for their exemplary performance among thermal plants.
