NEHHDC, Tide join hands to digitise handloom & handicrafts sector

Guwahati: North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC), an organisation to develop and promote the indigenous crafts of the region, is all set to empower and digitise the handloom and handicrafts sector of the North East.

North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC) has signed an MoU with Tide1, the UK’s leading SME-focused business financial platform.

The partnership is aimed at promoting financial inclusion and enhancing market reach for the community of nearly 2.1 million handloom weavers and 3.5 million handicrafts artisans across 800 clusters in Northeast India by leveraging the expertise and knowledge of the UK-based firm.

Gurjodhpal Singh, CEO of Tide India, said, “We are proud to partner with NEHHDC and are confident that our initiative will not only help enhance financial inclusion for these businesses but also create newer avenues to increase business opportunities and boost Indian art and heritage.”

The partnership comes at the helm of NEHHDC’s technology and innovation drive, which includes projects for the digitalisation of the handloom sector.
