Guwahati: The capacity of train number 05801/05802 has been enhanced from today onwards with the Northeast Frontier Railway adding two new additional coaches to the existing train.

Intercity passenger trains play a major role for regular commuters like students and office goers, for whom these are an economical and fast means of commute. The Assam Rail Passengers Association has been demanding additional intercity passengers in the state and has been vocal about the permanent cancellation of about 10 such trains during the pandemic. ARPA has been demanding the early revival of the canceled trains.

Considering the high demand for Train No. 05801/05802 running between New Bongaigaon and Guwahati, two general second class coaches have been attached to the existing coaches on a temporary basis for a period of two months from today, June 10 onwards. The additions are expected to benefit commuters, especially office goers.

As such, the train will run with six general second-class coaches instead of four such coaches. It will now have 24 coaches, consisting of 16 second class day coaches with sitting accommodation, six general second class coaches, and two cumbersome luggage vans with this new augmentation.

"Augmentation of coaches will help to manage the extra rush of passengers to and from Guwahati, and passengers can now undertake their journey more comfortably," stated Northeast Frontier Railway.
