N. F Railway earns Rs 186.34 crore from scrap sale

Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier (N.F) Railway earned Rs. 186.34 crore from scrap sale in the current financial year 2022-2023.

With this selling of scrap, N. F. Railway has surpassed the target set by Railway Board of Rs. 185 crore for the current financial year.

Sale of scrap items are being undertaken in all divisions of N.F. Railway as per the “Zero Scrap Mission” of Indian Railways. To make the mission a success, the N.F Railway ensured that each Division, Workshop and Sheds are free from scrap material.

This year target was higher by 48 percent as compared to last financial year. The scrap sale earning is the highest in last 15 years.
This earning is already high by Rs. 30 crore as compared to last year’s final sale figure.

During the drive under ‘Zero Scrap Mission’, N. F. Railway has sold 26250 Metric Tonne scrap rails/p-way materials and 14000 Metric Tonne of miscellaneous scrap items during this current financial year.

N. F. Railway has also sold 04 diesel locomotives, 124 coaches and 163 wagons till today.

The ‘Zero Scrap Mission’ drive has not only generated revenue for Indian Railways but will also create the space for accumulating other material including scrap.
