Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) said on Wednesday it achieved significant milestones during this financial year, including freight loading, electrification, new train introductions, and passenger amenities. 

The NFR achieved the best-ever POL loading of 515 rakes, a 32% growth in maize loading, and provided exceptional service to the people of Manipur during law-and-order situations, it said. The situation remains tense in Manipur over a court ruling that caused violent clashes between the majority Meiteis and the minority Kuki tribe.

NFR said that it also improved system efficiency by introducing 453 Bogie Covered Wagons (BCNHL) rakes in three months. 

"The highest-ever inward traffic of 35.30 million tonnes was achieved, a 6.9% growth from the previous year", it added in its release. "NFR is working towards 100 percent electrification across the zone, completing 61 percent of its total kilometers."
