Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has made significant progress in freight loading, as evidenced by its recent achievements.

In April 2023, NFR loaded 0.960 million tonnes (MT) of freight, indicating a positive trend. In the previous financial year, 2022-23, NFR loaded 11.98 MT of freight, which is a 15.19% increase compared to the 10.40 MT loaded in the financial year 2021-22.

During the month of April 2023, there were notable increases in the loading of specific commodities. Food grain loading, for instance, experienced a remarkable growth of 156.4% compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.

Dolomite loading also saw a significant increase of 26.8%, while loading of other commodities witnessed a growth of 12.3%.

All divisions under the jurisdiction of NFR have contributed to the progress in freight loading, resulting in a substantial increase in goods revenue during the last financial year.

This achievement reflects the economic activities taking place in the region. The successful execution of doubling works at important sections across NFR has facilitated the movement of essential and other commodities, further contributing to the growth in freight loading.
