Agartala: ONGC Tripura Asset has achieved its highest ever annual gas production at 1675 Million Standard Cubic Metres (MMSCM) for FY’2022-23, surpassing the previous record of 1634 MMSCM in FY’2020-21.

Tarun Malik, Executive Director and Asset Manager of Tripura Asset, attributed the success to the teamwork of all ONGCians working for the energy security of the nation. He also acknowledged the support received from the state administration, which has been vital to maintaining ONGC's operations during adverse circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

To achieve this record production and sustain a high level of output, ONGC implemented various operational initiatives, including installation of plunger lifts and mobile separators, regular activation of low-pressure wells, and aerial hydrocarbon survey to map remote locations. The Asset also held regular interactions with gas customers and regulatory agencies to plan power plants' maintenance shutdowns more effectively.

Despite the remoteness of the fields and high decline rates, ONGC Tripura Asset has registered a 3 percent CAGR growth in the last 6 years and breached the 5 MMSCMD mark 49 times in FY’2022-23. Shri Malik believes that the relationship between ONGC and Tripura, which has spanned 61 years, will only get stronger.

The record production by ONGC Tripura Asset provides another boost to the state's economic credentials as a strong future business destination, as Tripura's Chief Minister Prof (Dr) Manik Saha has recently urged industrialists to commit investments in the region during the G20 Summit held in Agartala.
