The department of Urban Development in Sikkim launches Business-based online services in the state.

Residents of Sikkim can now access four effortless steps of Doing Business-based online services of the urban Development department through a NIC-developed portal and official website of the department.

According to a report published in the Sikkim Express, these online services include issuance of NOC for registration of land in urban areas as boundary holders and for availing housing loan against mortgage of lease deed, temporary permission for organizing events in cities or towns, and allotment of shops, spaces and housing units.

As informed by an IPR press release, these contactless services were launched by Urban Development minister Arun Upreti at his chamber in Tashiling Secretariat today in the presence of Urban Development secretary M.T. Sherpa, additional secretary Bandana Rai and the officers and staff of the department, Minister Upreti said these new “unprecedented” facilities of the Urban Development department aim to provide hassle-free and transparent services to the people of the State. With such digital services, the department will be able to provide transparent citizen-centric services, he added.

He expressed that the services provided online are convenient enough for citizens as there are no procedural delays since they can be accessed online.

Secretary M.T. Sherpa said, the objective of the new initiative is to provide convenient online services to citizens and ensure compliance for implementing ease of doing business.

The Secretary further said that the State government by launching four online services has made great progress towards creating a favorable environment for ease of doing business as well as providing seamless services to citizens at the doorsteps.
