New Delhi: Paddy purchase at MSP from farmers has begun in the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2021-22, as it has in prior years.

Up to the 5th of October, 2021, a total of 2,87,552 MT of paddy was procured in KMS 2021-22, benefiting 29,907 farmers with an MSP value of Rs. 563.60 crore. Haryana procured 1,46,509 metric tonnes of paddy, whereas Punjab procured 1,41,043 metric tonnes of paddy.

Paddy procurement in Kharif 2020-21 is practically complete, with 894.24 LMTs of paddy purchased up to October 5, 2021 (includes Kharif Crop 718.09 LMT and Rabi Crop 176.15 LMT) compared to 768.70 LMT the previous year.

KMS 2020-21 procurement operations benefited approximately 131.14 lac farmers with an MSP value of Rs. 1,68,832.78 crore. Paddy procurement reached an all-time high in KMS 2019-20, exceeding the previous high of 770.93 LMT.

In Marketing Season RMS 2021-22, a total of 433.44 LMT of wheat was procured (an all-time high), with an MSP value of Rs.85,603.57 Crore benefiting about 49.20 Lac farmers.
