Guwahati: Helicopter services in six routes connecting four major cities of Assam will be launched by central PSU Pawan Hans Ltd on February 8, which are expected to boost trade and tourism.
In this phase, connectivity will start on the Dibrugarh-Jorhat-Tezpur-Guwahati-Tezpur-Jorhat-Dibrugarh network, according to a formal announcement made on Monday. According to the statement, the operationalization of these routes would make travel easier for locals and enhance trade and tourism.
Under the Regional Connectivity Scheme, Pawan Hans Ltd has been given 86 routes across six states, and its Wednesday inauguration will mark the beginning of its first phase. After then, the services will also begin to operate in Arunachal Pradesh.
The programme is focusing particularly on boosting air connection to rural areas of the northeastern regions with insufficient rail and road connectivity, it further said.
