PM to lay foundation of Research and Healthcare Facility at IIT Guwahati

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone of Assam Advanced Health Innovation Institute (AAHII) at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati on April 14 during his visit to Guwahati on Bihu.

The facility is being set up in collaboration with the state government to leverage advanced technologies to transform medical science.

Prof. Parameswar K. Iyer, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati said that Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute is envisioned to be a centre of excellence for innovation of cutting-edge health technologies and advancing boundaries of knowledge in frontier areas of medicine.

The institute will be an integrated campus with a Research and Development block, academic institution for health and human resources including Post Graduate and PhD programs, and ancillary support.

The Prime Minister will virtually lay the foundation stone during his visit to AIIMS Guwahati in the presence of Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of Health and Family Welfare of India, Government of India, Dr. Mansukh L. Mandaviya, and Minister, Medical Education and Research, Assam Keshab Mahanta.
