Pragjyotishpur University celebrated its 2nd Foundation Day at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Auditorium in Guwahati, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s journey. The event was graced by several distinguished guests including academic leaders from various universities and colleges on November 13, 2024.

The event featured an interactive session with National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Director Ganeshan Kannabiran on accreditation, assessment, and other relevant topics related to the education system.

During the session, Ganeshan Kannabiran highlighted the achievements of Assam in the field of accreditation, stating, “I am happy to be part of this young university’s foundation day. Assam has performed very well in accreditation. The cultural quality in Assam is excellent, and it’s reflected in the fact that nearly 5% of all accreditation in India comes from Assam. This is a significant achievement.”

The NAAC Director also praised the insightful questions raised during the interaction, adding, “The queries about new concepts in accreditation and assessment were refreshing. We at NAAC will work towards addressing them through government initiatives.”

Jogesh Kakati, Registrar of Pragjyotishpur College spoke about the university's growth. He said, “Pragjyotishpur College has developed remarkably in just two years. The presence of such eminent guests underscores the university’s progress. We are growing together as an institution.”

Besides this, the varsity announced some exciting developments, including the introduction of cultural programs and degrees focused on Indian and Assamese heritage. Courses in Satriya, Borgeet, Lokogeet, Sashtriya Sangeet, and other aspects of Indian cultural heritage will be offered, further enriching the academic offerings. Moreover, a new auditorium with a seating capacity of 700 will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 20-30 lakhs.
