Projects worth Rs 9,708.78 cr commissioned under Advantage Assam: Chandramohan Patowary

Guwahati: Projects worth Rs 9,708.78 crore have been commissioned since the holding of Advantage Assam in 2018, said the Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chandra Mohan Patowary. Among the commissioned projects, Rs 2,253 crore worth of projects are commissioned in the public sector and projects worth Rs 7,454 crore in the private sector.

Giving details of the commissioned projects, Patowary said that the Numaligarh Refinery Limited invested Rs 86 crore to revamp the motor spint block, while, it invested Rs 122 crore for setting up moulded LPG storage

The ONGC Limited invested Rs 131 crore in setting up a multi-specialty hospital in Sivasagar in the name of Swargadeo Siu Ka Pha. The ONGC also spent Rs 88 crore for setting up an effluent treatment plant at Lakhmani in the Siyasa par district and Rs 98 crore was spent on the construction of effluent treatment cum water injection pump at Borholla and Khoraghat. The company also spent Rs 48 crore on the construction of a crude pipeline from Borholla to Jorhat.

The Minister revealed that Oil India Limited invested an amount of Rs 865 crore for the upgradation of the pump stations of the Naharkatiya-Barauni pipeline. The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited has set up an LPG bottling plant at Matia in Goalpara district at a cost of over Rs 70 crore. The Indian Oil Corporation Limited invested an amount of Rs 557 crore for a fuel quality up-gradation project in Guwahati Refinery.

The major investments in the private sector came in the micro, small, and medium enterprises sector as projects worth Rs 4,250 crore have already been commissioned since 2018.

Among the other major investments in the private sector, the Hindustan Oil Exploration Company has set up a modular gas processing plant at a cost of Rs 902 crore, Patanjali Ayurveda invested Rs 741 crore for its project in Bali para and Tata Trusts have so far invested Rs 500 crore for setting up of cancer hospitals under the Assam Cancer Care Foundation.

The other private investments include Rs 102 crore by Dabur India Limited, Rs 229 crore by Cairn Vedan ta Limited, Rs 165 crore by Britania Industries Limited, Rs 150 crore by BR group of companies, Rs 127 crore by the ITC, Rs 1041 crore by the North East Health City, Rs 80 crore by DJ Agro-Industrial Projects Limited, etc. All these projects have already been commissioned, which gave a major boost to industrialization in the state, said the Minister.
